A: Other than people asking when we will have an iPhone or Droid app, this is the most common question I receive. The answer is that every stream is downloadable.
- The easiest method requires the Firefox internet browser with the DownThemAll extension installed
- Open the stream you wish to download into a new window or tab
- Drop the player.html off the end of the stream's URL
- You should now be viewing the files within that stream's directory
- The mp3's can be saved individually by right-clicking on each and selecting "Save As..."
But using the dTa extension is much easier and faster. Right-click and select "DownThemAll...)

- The extension should automatically select all the mp3's. Select the destination folder you wish to download them to and select Start
- The extension will then proceed to download all the files

- A few notes to consider:
- The files may not have been encoded at a high bitrate. Over the years we have progressively increased the bitrate quality of streams but those created prior to 2008 are likely at 128 kbps or below. This is most apparent with the Non-WSP streams because they have not been upgraded with new filesets.
- The mp3's will likely not be tagged. I only confirm tags when creating the high bitrate iPod-ready shows available on the download page.
- When downloading streams, be sure to grab the text file from within the directory. It is useful in the event you need to rename the tracks
- To quickly view the stream directories, use the following backdoors
- For Widespread Panic: http://panicstream.com/streams/wsp/
- For all other bands: http://panicstream.net/streams/
- We recommend that people utilize the torrent sites, DigitalPanic and etree, in order to download the highest quality files (a bitorrent 'How To' is coming soon)
